Job Overview
This family owned and operated business is looking for a team member to join them for seeding amongst their friendly farming community. The role is for a tractor and airseeder operator and the applicant will be required to start mid-April and finish mid-June at the completion of seeding.
The Farm
The 4000 Hectare property focusses on cropping canola, lupins, barley and wheat.
The existing seeding team is small so there will be plenty of hours available for a person with the right skills. The owner will work closely with the applicant and ensure they feel comfortable with the hours offered and worked.
Machinery training will be provided to use the farm equipment safely and correctly. Leading up to seeding there will be maintenance to be completed on the seeding gear and some fences to be removed, followed by cleaning machinery and spreading urea after seeding depending on the weather.
Main job description
The farm anticipates starting seeding approximately 18-25 April depending on weather and finishing seeding June 30.
Machinery includes:
-T9060 new holland tractor with John Deere auto steer
-Flexicoil 2640 triple bin air cart, (50hectare fills)
-60 foot Morris concept seeder with 755lb trips
-Rogator 1300B SP Sprayer
-International s-line prime mover with 40 foot flat top, 2x5in1 bins for fertiliser
-Freightliner prime mover with 30 foot skel trailer, 5in1 and hd8800 Cole bin for grain
Roles required prior to starting seeding may include:
-Maintenance on seeding gear, air seeder, trucks.
-Removal of fences, using loader and bobcat.
-Raking rocks with rock rake and picking up rows with rock picker.
-Dump harrowing stubble.
-Assist with burning stubble and windrows.
During seeding
-Drive and fill seeder unsupervised once trained.
-Clean down seeding gear.
-Spread urea depending on rain.
Skills you need
- Good work ethic.
- Drivers licence required. Own vehicle preferred. However, a work vehicle to get to and from work can be arranged if necessary.
- Prefer non-smoking or vaping but would consider someone regardless. No smoking or vaping on or near machinery is permitted.
- Staff must be able to work alone and repair minor problems once they have been trained with the correct skills.
- Knowledge of agriculture and broadacre farming a bonus.
- Some knowledge in medium/large sized agricultural machinery.
- Some knowledge in general farm maintenance and repairs.
What are your rewards
$32-$38 hour depending on skills and work ethic.
The owners will provide a meal for dinner during seeding and allow a day over the weekend for shopping and washing to prepare for the week.
Accommodation is available, including a 3×1 bedroom house on farm approx. 10km from main farm. The house includes evaporative air con and reverse cycle air con in lounge room.

Mukinbudin is close to where the workers house is situated (20km away), with a pub, local IGA grocery store, post office, swimming pool and gym.
Bencubbin (10km away) has a sports club, swimming pool, gym and cafe.
