Job Overview

This farming family business is looking for an employee for seeding and potentially harvest if they are the right fit.

The team currently includes an experienced full-time employee and a casual employee who consistently returns for seasonal work. Both employees are fantastic to work with and offer support and familiarity during the seeding and harvest operations.
The business are very focused and dedicated to producing great yielding crops but at the same time like to ensure they are nurturing their employees and encouraging them to stive within the agricultural industry.

This role has a starting date – approx 25th April 2025 or sooner.

 

The Farm

All cropping enterprise.

Total 4111Ha of wheat and canola.

Spread across 4 farms, furthest being 70kms away from main farming blocks and accommodation.

 

Main job description

During seeding the main role would be to drive and load the fertiliser truck with shift work on the seeder.
Machinery includes:

  • Top Con
  • Case 500 Rowtrac
  • Morris Seeding Bin
  • Primary Sales 18m Seeding Bar
  • Freightliner Truck
  • International Acco Truck

Harvesting role would be operating a header and chaser bin, alternating as the shifts required.

 

Skills you need

  • Driver’s license and own vehicle are required
  • Be self-motivated
  • English speaking essential
  • Farming experience preferred
  • Truck licence would be preferred, but not essential

 

What are your rewards

Pastoral Award – payrate will depend on level of experience. Varies between $30 – $40 per hour.

Work vehicle provided for work duties and travelling to and from worksite.

There is a renovated donga consisting of two king single bedrooms, each with own ensuites situated at the workshop. Kitchen and loungeroom one end of donga and bedrooms at the other end. Fully equipped with washing machine, outdoor washing line, microwave and small oven. Linen provided.

Dinners are provided during seeding and harvest. Occasional lunches provided, but it is an expectation to be prepared to pack your own lunches and snacks.

 

The surrounding community

The role is based near a small community 60 kms north of the beautiful Esperance coastline. An easy 40 minute drive to enjoy the beaches on the weekends or rostered days off.

The small Scaddan community increases in size during seasonal times and the local Scaddan Country Club offers weekly catch ups so that the many farm employees can meet and socialise together along with the farmers and their families.

There is an excellent Scaddan Primary School with around 50 students attending, and excellent staff. The active Scaddan Bush Fire Brigade is well supported with volunteers and their families and always on hand to provide the necessary assistance.

The town of Esperance has a population of over 14,000 and has all the amenities necessary. It is a unique town, due to its location and distance from other major towns, and it offers a variety of sporting, recreational, arts and crafts, music and bespoke activities. Something for everyone in Esperance, except UBER!
