General Farmhand – Immediate Start

The Farm
Total Hectares: 11000ha total.
Hectares cropped: 8500ha cropped in 2025.
Crops Grown: Lupins, Canola, Oats, Wheat
Livestock: 2000 breeding ewes crossed with a crossbred ram producing lambs for the meat market.
Main job description
The role is for a permanent farmhand so roles will change as the year progresses.
Roles will include:
Sheep work. Generally, shear in October, crutch July/August and tail lambs July/August.
Repairs generally carried out post-harvest and seeding.
Fencing generally carried out post-harvest and seeding.
Harvest: End of October to early November with season lasting until early to mid-January.

Bagging machine predominantly used for Oats however may occasionally bag other grain depending on the season.
Seeding: Commences early to mid-April and lasts for 6-8 weeks.

John Deere 616 SP boomspray and tug along Sonic Boomspray used for knockdown, pre emergent and post emergent spraying.

Volvo truck towing seed and super bin
Western Star truck towing water cart for spraying operations.
Skills you need
- Driver’s license required
- Non-smoking preferred
- A general interest in agriculture and the desire to learn as much as possible
- Previous experience in spraying or machinery operation preferred however not required.
Works well in a team and has good communication skills - Willingness to learn with the right attitude
- Fluent English
What are your rewards
Dependent on experience, $30/hr will be the starting rate according to award.
Shared accommodation on the home farm which is located 60km from 3 major towns.
Other accommodation which is slowly being renovated located 100km from 2 major towns.
Own vehicle necessary if an Australian Citizen. If from another country vehicle not essential.
For the right person the owners may offer MC license, however, employees will need to commit to 12 months on the farm.
Local Community
Local larger community has a strong football, netball and hockey club in the winter and tennis club in the summer.
Immediate local community has a lot of young people who all get together at the local pub.
