2 Workin Oz Recruiting

Job Overview

This role is with a family business based 50km NE of Esperance.

The owners are committed to creating a work culture that is balanced, enjoyable and supporting safe work practices. They provide an excellent learning environment with a qualified welder and qualified agronomist as part of their team for workshop operations and agronomy training.

The Farm

The business is managed over two farming locations – with the first based in Esperance (a bit over half of the program is here) and the rest is in West River near to Ravensthorpe.

The farm is 4500 ha and grows mainly wheat and canola. The owners focus on growing crops in a controlled traffic system to their highest potential, paying particular attention to timeliness, weed control and soil health.

Details of interest

Seeding starts with canola in early-mid April with seeding usually completed by late May. Seeding operators do 2 x 12 hour shifts, 12am to 12pm.

The seeding tractor is a 2021 John Deere 9520 and towing a Bourgault 7810 16 metre bar, Simplicity 12000L seeder with a 3800L Flexi N cart. They use RTK implement guidance on the seeding bar for ‘on-row’ seed placement.

They also have a 48m 15000L JTA sprayer towed with a JCB 8330 Fastrac. The seeding truck is a Freightliner Argosy road train with a belly dumper for seed and fertiliser and Flexi N on the back trailer.
Two employees run the seeding shifts, one employee plus the owner is spraying and on the ground, maintaining, filling and loading machines.

Skills you need

A driver’s license is essential.
