Family run Dairy Farm with modern facilities in a rotary dairy system
Full time casual position, requiring a minimum commitment of 3 months but preferably 6 months and with the option to stay longer.
Well suited to those with previous dairy experience and looking for a minimum 6 months for visa extension.
This job is for 1 person only and there are no options for partners to work on the farm although there are other work options in the city of Busselton less than 20km from the farm.
The Farm
Modern Rotary Dairy milking 1000 cows 20 minutes from the city of Busselton in the South West of WA.
With a large grazing and silage program running to support the dairy, production standards are of a high priority. This farm runs to a high efficiency schedule and requires skilled and passionate stock people for milking and general duties for, the wellbeing and care of the animals and the land.

The farm itself is undergoing constant upgrades and maintenance to make sure it’s a safe and enjoyable workplace, where animal welfare is of the highest importance.

Main job description for the General Farm hand
General Farm hand role immediate start.
Milking will be the main task with 5am starts in the dairy. Then general farm work during the day and back to the dairy for Afternoon milking.
Milking happens 7 days a week 365 days a year and therefore you will work 5 days a week and have 2 days off but the roster does change so everyone has a chance to have a weekend off during the cycle. Weekend shifts are milking hours only so still plenty of time for time out for R&R.
Other tasks in your day may include but not limited to tractor driving for the feeding cattle or spreading fertiliser, cutting hay or silage or shifting silage. Fencing repairs and general maintenance of the paddocks and buildings on the farm. Mowing grass and spraying weeds.
Generally, your day will start at 5am and be a 10 hour shift with regular breaks. You are guaranteed a 40 hour week but there are opportunities to do more hours if you have the required skills and experience.
Skills you need
- Previous experience with cattle and milking in a dairy is essential .
- You need to be physically fit and enjoy the early morning starts.
- Manual Driver’s license essential – you will also need your own car.
- Ability to work in a team and work alone as you will find yourself in both situations at different times in your day.
What are your Rewards
This position offers full time hours of 5x 10-12 hour shifts per week.
Wages are in line with Award rates and level of previous experience and will be negotiated with the applicant at the interview stage.
The package includes accommodation in a share house. Rent and utilities will be negotiated as part ofthe overall package.
A farm vehicle is available for work purposes only. You must have your own vehicle for going off farm to do food shopping or social outings etc.
