This farming family business is seeking a full-time permanent farmhand whose primary role will be to operate the boom spray. There is also potential for another role assisting with day-to-day operations.

More senior candidates may be considered to manage day to day activities and staff when the manager is away.

Start dates are flexible.

This family run business seeks staff members who show initiative, commonsense and a desire to work to a high standard. Members who join their team have the capacity to work independently and unsupervised, as well as in collaboration with others.

The Farm

The property is 5800ha of owned & leased land.
Crops include – Wheat, barley, hay, canola & lupins.

Details of interest

The business runs two 12m Dbs bars with morris air carts. They have a mixture of tractors including Claas, New Holland and Massey Ferguson. The boom spray is a Rogator 1300c and they also use a tow behind Hydraboom.

Harvest machinery includes two Claas 770 with seed terminators and 12m fronts and use a 36t Coolamon chaser bin to keep the grain away.

Outside of seeding and harvest, duties will include but not limited to – Spraying, Spreading, Clay spreading, Reefinating, fencing, paddock clean up and maintaining machinery.

On our property they have a 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom family home available. The character home has recently been painted, with new carpets and blinds installed throughout. This stone home is surrounded by a verandah, features a large outdoor entertaining area, yard space, double carport and a pool. The house includes an office space, formal dining room and a second toilet. A wood fire and split system heating and cooling keep the home comfortable all year round.

What can life after work look like

The farm is located 25km east of Wagin in the Great Southern. Being within just a few hours travel of either Perth, Bunbury or Albany, this really is a lovely part of the state.

A bus run services the area and children can travel to a local district high school, catering for students from Kindy – Year 10. Students then have the opportunity to travel to the nearby centres of Narrogin or Katanning to complete their schooling. Prior to schooling, our local town has a playgroup and day care centre to cater for children before they enter school age.

There are many and varied sporting clubs in Wagin. From tennis, bowls and cricket in the summer, to football, netball and hockey in the winter – just to name a few. The local pool, wetlands park and nearby lakes are popular spots in the summertime, with a cinema, play spaces and cycle trails providing opportunities to keep active all year round. Sporting clubs aside, there are many other local groups you can get involved with to become a part of the local community.

The Wagin Woolorama is an annual community event held in March, which showcases agriculture across two days. Thousands of people visit the event every year to see exhibits, conduct research for their business, showcase their product and enjoy the fun and festivities. Wagin Woolorama is made possible by the generosity of local volunteers who contribute hours or time to make the event possible every year.
