This family farm is looking for enthusiastic team members who like working as part of a team. They need a header driver for the upcoming harvest. The farm is located in the Esperance region.
The Farm
A family run farm based in Grass Patch. They crop just under 4500 hectares. Of that, 3800ha is in Grass Patch, 700ha in Gibson and about 60km south of Grass Patch. They crop wheat, barley, canola and lentils.
The business live and work in a beautiful location. They work hard to keep machinery in as good a condition as possible. The family aim to run harvest as efficiently and smoothly as possible and try to make sure that everyone has a good experience.
Details of interest
Harvest usually runs from mid-October until early December.
Depending on the season and weather, harvest could finish anywhere from late November through to January.
The business run 3 headers and 2 chaser bins. Two John Deere S790s and one John Deere S680 are used for harvest. The chaser bins are on John Deere 8260 and 8260R.
Skills you need
- Driver’s license essential.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Good English.
- Safety paperwork to be completed upon arrival. Safety and a successful experience are paramount to the owners.
What are your Rewards?
Pay usually starts at $30 p/h for machinery operators, up to $35 p/h if they are skilled.
Accommodation is donga style with private bedrooms and shared bathroom, kitchen and living spaces. There is aircon and basic bedding is provided.
Meals are provided during harvest – One home-cooked evening meal provided while working. This may be fresh or frozen, tractor ovens are supplied in each tractor.
What can life after work look like
Grass Patch is small but does have a post office/shop, a community centre and tennis courts. There are occasional bar nights run in the community centre and there is playgroup run weekly.
Esperance is an hour from the farm and has almost everything you could need. There are clubs for most sports but during summer people mostly spend their leisure time on the beaches, which are incredible. It has great fishing and surfing and camping spots too.
