Truck Driver –Koorda (ref #16187)

Job Overview

This family farm is looking for a truck driver for the upcoming 2024 harvest season. Should the applicant be suitably qualified there may also be an opportunity for header driving as well as truck driving.

 

The Farm

Running a broadacre wheat and sheep farm, 5000 -6000 hectares of crop is grown annually.
The primary crop is 4000ha of wheat, the balance is made up of barley, canola and lupins.
The business also has 2500 sheep, comprising of 1500 breeders. All sheep are  merino for meat and wool.

 

Details of interest

The business will potentially run 2 trucks for harvest, a Kenworth road train, and they will hire a second truck if required.

 

Skills you need

  • Be able to work unsupervised
  • Be able to work with others
  • To have good communication skills and good English
  • Minimum HC drivers license but preferably MC
  • To have a basic understanding of guidance systems and auto steering
  • To have basic servicing and maintenance skills
  • To keep workplace and vehicles clean at all times
  • Preference given to non-smoker

 

What are your Rewards?

Pay rate is $40+ and will depend on experience and agricultural skill set and be discussed with the successful applicant.

Accommodation and a vehicle are provided. Fully self-contained 3 bedroom house, aircon, mobile, government scheme water connected.
Fully self-contained cottage, no mobile, rain water.

 

What can life after work look like

Very friendly small community. Just over three hours’ drive northeast of Perth is the Wheatbelt town of Koorda. The predominantly farming community dedicates itself to growing wheat, coarse grains and sheep.

Mollerin and Newcarlbeon rocks are located north of town and during winter and late spring have a picturesque display of wildflowers and beautiful panoramic views from the top of the rock.

Koorda has an IGA, Hotel and fuel station.
