Full-time farmhand – Brookton (ref #5712)

This full-time role is located on a family owned and operated farm.

This is a smaller sized cropping operation for the area, but includes an intensive sheep enterprise, with high quality facilities to make working life more enjoyable and easier.

The owners are passionate farmers and friendly and flexible employers.

The farm is one block, split up by one main road and several shire roads making it easier to operate throughout seasonal times.

The Farm

The farming business runs a mixed sheep and cropping enterprise located 20kms east of Brookton over approximately 3000Ha.

The owners run an intensive sheep operation with a Merino flock (approx. 7000) currently 2500 breeders and younger stock. The business hosts great facilities with Electronic Identification recording.

The cropping side of the business varies between 1000 – 1400Ha depending on livestock/crop ratio and wet seasons. The main crops are wheat, barley, lupins and oats.

The property also produces hay for stock on-farm use.

Details of interest

A general fulltime Farmhand is required for all aspects of the Farming operation.

The role would be Monday – Friday with some seasonal weekend work during busy times. Ideal for someone who has had previous experience with handling sheep and operating farm machinery.
The role would suit someone who is mechanically minded and understands sheep management.

The individual will report to the farm owner. Seeding generally runs from April-June and Harvest from November-December.

Skills you need

• Non-smoking.
• Enthusiastic, self-motivated and observant.
• Able to follow instructions/guidelines.
• Able to work unsupervised when asked and also as part of our small family team
• HR as a minimum license with ability and interest to work towards HC.
• Respect and ability to follow OHS procedures.

What are your Rewards?

An hourly rate is paid, dependent on previous experience and qualifications. Between the $30/hr – $38/hr range.

Two accommodation options are available in a 3 x 1 older style Farmhouse which is well maintained on the property with modern facilities.

First option – shared single persons accommodation, however, this would be subject to applicants’ suitability.

Second option – full use of the house.

Meals are not supplied during the year, applicant must self-cater, though an evening meal during busy seeding and harvest period can be sourced if required.

A work ute is provided for work purposes.

Brookton town is 20kms West of the farm and approx. 130kms SE from Perth. Brookton has all amenities and local sporting clubs. i.e. bowls, golf, tennis, swimming (seasonal).

Brookton also has an IGA, Pharmacy, Hardware, Post Office, Deli, Pub, CRC, 2 x Roadhouses, and various Farm businesses.
